Ft. Smith livestock sales report

The Ft. Smith Livestock, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 941 head April 20, compared to 350 head last week, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were $1 to $3 higher. Feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 higher, instances higher. The supply included 500 feeder calves, 324 feeder yearlings; 25 replacement cows, 76 slaughter cows, 16 slaughter bulls, and 0 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 40% English breed and English crosses; 30% Exotic breed and Exotic crosses, 30% Brahma and Brahma crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 60% steers and bulls with 40% heifers. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 46.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 41.00 to 45.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 44.00 to 48.50; high dressing, 49.00 to 53.00; low dressing, 39.00 to 43.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 41.00 to 45.50; high dressing, 46.00 to 50.00; low dressing, 36.00 to 40.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 57.00 to 61.50; high dressing, 62.00 to 66.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 315 to 345 lbs., 122.50 to 139.00 (127.20); 381 to 397 lbs., 123.00 to 123.50 (123.31); 400 to 448 lbs., 114.00 to 125.00 (117.58); 460 to 498 lbs., 113.00 to 122.50 (115.97); 500 to 548 lbs., 108.00 to 117.50 (112.09); 550 to 595 lbs., 107.00 to 114.50 (109.41); 601 to 645 lbs., 102.00 to 113.00 (107.22); 660 to 690 lbs., 98.00 to 107.00 (103.36); 700 to 745 lbs., 93.00 to 104.00 (96.80); 750 to 785 lbs., 93.00 to 95.50 (94.79); 810 to 830 lbs., 92.35 to 94.00 (92.38); 870 to 880 lbs., 83.00 to 85.00 (83.99).
