David Drake named to AgriLife Extension agronomy postTexas Dr. David R. Drake has been named the Texas AgriLife Extension Service agronomist for the agency's 23-county west central district. He will be headquartered in the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center north of San Angelo on U.S. Hwy 87. "We are very pleased that Dr. Drake is joining us as assistant professor and AgriLife Extension agronomist at San Angelo," said Dr. Travis Miller, associate head of the department of soil and crop sciences at Texas A&M University. "He comes to us with extensive experience in both dryland and irrigated wheat and oilseed crops gained while working with the Utah State University Extension Service." Drake holds doctorate and master's degrees in plant breeding and genetics from Purdue University. He also has a bachelor's degree in plant science earned at Utah State University. His professional experience includes being the Extension diversified crops specialist and Sevier County director with Utah State University Extension since 2005; Sevier County Extension director from 2001-2005; and a small-grains breeding program research assistant with Purdue's department of agronomy from 1995-2001.
