Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,727 head April 16, compared to 2,305 head last week and 1,739 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 700 pounds were firm, over 700 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers were mostly $2 higher. Slaughter cows were $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 425- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 24% of the offering, replacement cows 1%, and feeders 75%. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers, with nearly 48% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 303 lbs., 131.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 129.00, lot 436 lbs., thin 134.50; package 562 lbs., 118.00, 500 to 600 lbs., thin 126.00 to 129.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 108.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 101.10 to 103.75; load 842 lbs., 95.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., thin 125.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 99.00 to 101.50, thin 108.00 to 115.00; three packages 603 to 653 lbs., 94.50 to 100.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 92.50 to 95.00. Medium and large frame 2, lot 575 lbs., 103.00; package 608 lbs., 95.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 300 to 400 lbs., 121.00 to 124.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 108.50 to 112.50, thin 117.50 to 118.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 107.25, two packages 572 to 574 lbs., 93.25 to 96.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 91.00 to 94.50, lot 673 lbs., fancy 97.00; two lots 715 to 763 lbs., 93.75 to 98.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, two packages 290 to 298 lbs., 111.00 to 116.00; two packages 474 to 483 lbs., 99.50 to 104.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.50 to 96.50; few 600 to 700 lbs., 88.00 to 90.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 87.50 to 92.25. Medium and large frame 2, lot 584 lbs., 89.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 84.00 to 87.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 48.00 to 52.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 46.00 to 50.00.

Dairy cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1800 lbs., 49.00 to 53.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1500 lbs., 48.75 to 51.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 46.50 to 50.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle aged, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 7 to 9 months bred 760.00 to 885.00.
