Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 1,290 head April 8, compared to 940 head last week and 1,250 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 higher. Steers lightly tested with no load lots available. Feeder heifers were $3 to $5 higher. Steer and heifer calves were $3 to $4 higher in a limited test. Demand was good for all classes. Weigh-ups were average to gaunt, few full. The supply included 18% steers, 82% heifers with 91% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 58 cows and bulls sold with 52% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 353 to 370 lbs., 123.00 to 128.00 (125.44); 12 head, 511 lbs., 121.00; 558 to 589 lbs., 106.00 to 119.00 (115.00); 737 to 744 lbs., 96.85 to 97.75 (97.20); 13 head, 767 lbs., 95.25; 827 to 846 lbs., 89.75 to 90.50 (89.85); 14 head, 874 to 896 lbs., 85.75 to 86.50 (85.96). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 739 lbs., 95.50. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 813 lbs., 81.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 3 head, 318 lbs., 114.00; 13 head, 352 to 397 lbs., 108.00 to 111.00 (109.10); 5 head, 429 lbs., 108.50; 12 head, 480 to 486 lbs., 104.00 to 104.50 (104.38); 8 head, 506 to 548 lbs., 97.00 to 100.50 (99.12); 9 head, 556 lbs., 99.00; 613 to 629 lbs., 93.25 to 96.85 (95.46); 15 head, 651 lbs., 93.25; 700 to 730 lbs., 90.50 to 94.00 (93.29); 759 to 794 lbs., 85.50 to 89.00 (87.81); 93 head, 774 lbs., 84.50 fleshy; 815 to 828 lbs., 85.00 to 86.00 (85.49); 69 head, 832 lbs., 82.75 fleshy; 861 to 892 lbs., 82.25 to 83.75 (82.72). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 722 lbs., 89.50; 9 head, 841 lbs., 82.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 1 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1250 to 2075 lbs., 50.00. Boners, 6 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1375 lbs., 51.50; low dressing, 44.00 to 47.50. Lean, 12 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1550 lbs., 49.00 to 50.00; high dressing, 51.00 to 53.75; low dressing, 45.50 to 47.75. Lights, 1 head, 80 to 90% lean, 900 to 925 lbs., 40.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 5 head, 1400 to 2400 lbs., 60.00 to 62.50; high dressing, 63.50; low dressing, 57.00).

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 to 9 years old, 1250 lbs., with 125-lb. calves, average blacks 785.00.
