Sioux Falls sheep sales reportThe Sioux Falls Sheep Auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 670 head April 7, compared to 486 head last week and 790 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs over 100 pounds were mostly Choice 2 to 3 instead of Choice and Prime 2 to 3, therefore, a meaningful trend is not applicable. Slaughter lambs under 60 pounds sold steady. Slaughter ewes were steady to $1 higher. Receipts included about 27% slaughter lambs, 55% slaughter ewes, 9% feeder lambs and the balance was miscellaneous sheep. Buyer attendance was moderate to good with good to very good demand. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice 1 to 2, 6 head, 105 lbs., 105.00. Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 7 head, 106 lbs., 94.00; 118 to 122 lbs., 94.00 to 95.00 (94.73); 131 to 143 lbs., 92.25 to 95.00 (92.74). Wooled Good and Choice 1 to 2, 10 head, 100 lbs., 92.50. Wooled, Good 1, 10 head, 58 lbs., 141.00; 60 to 67 lbs., 132.00 to 133.00 (132.32). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 133 to 156 lbs., 30.00 to 31.50 (30.52); 160 to 182 lbs., 29.00 to 34.00 (30.77). Good 2 to 4, fleshy, 190 to 198 lbs., 30.00 to 32.00 (31.06). Utility 1 to 2, Medium flesh, 9 head, 138 lbs., 25.00. Cull and Utility 1, thin to medium, 17 head, 147 lbs., 20.00. Cull and Utility 1 to 2, thin to medium, 141 to 151 lbs., 19.00 to 22.00 (21.36).
