Ericson cattle sales report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 3,650 head April 4, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared with two weeks ago, steers and heifers trended steady to $4 higher. Demand was good and trading active with good buyer attendance, despite the bad weather conditions. The total receipts consisted of 48% steers, 52% heifers, with 48% of total offerings weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 409 to 429 lbs., 118.00 to 124.35 (123.12); 455 to 492 lbs., 114.00 to 120.50 (118.65); 504 to 545 lbs., 109.50 to 120.00 (117.95); 551 to 595 lbs., 106.60 to 117.00 (109.82); 608 to 644 lbs., 102.50 to 116.25 (110.02) calves; 666 to 698 lbs., 98.50 to 105.00 (101.34) calves; 714 to 747 lbs., 99.00 to 106.60 (104.58); 755 to 768 lbs., 93.75 to 98.50 (96.29). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 18 head, 325 to 330 lbs., 129.50 to 130.00 (129.72).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 30 head, 394 lbs., 123.75; 426 to 445 lbs., 114.10 to 123.00 (115.71); 462 to 499 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00 (107.43); 514 to 549 lbs., 103.50 to 111.00 (106.64); 550 to 596 lbs., 97.25 to 105.75 (102.10); 612 to 649 lbs., 96.75 to 100.50 (98.20) calves; 659 to 671 lbs., 92.00 to 96.10 (95.12) calves; 700 to 739 lbs., 88.50 to 97.60 (96.27) calves; 42 head, 770 lbs., 103.00 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 323 to 339 lbs., 118.00 to 122.00 (119.91); 456 to 488 lbs., 104.00 to 115.00 (108.40); 6 head, 537 lbs., 97.00.
