Bennet announces funding for key High Plains regional priorities

Colorado

In early March, the Senate passed H.R. 1105, the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009. Michael Bennet supported the measure which contains funding that will make health care more affordable, ensure that kids have access to quality education, and help more Americans go to college and compete in the global economy.

"This bill will make the investments we need to make to strengthen our economy now and lay the foundation for lasting prosperity and long-term growth," said Senator Bennet. "It includes significant funding for key projects and priorities that will make a real difference in the lives of Coloradans in the High Plains and other communities across the state."

The Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 now awaits President Obama's signature into law.

High Plains funding in H.R. 1105 gives $717,000 for the Central Great Plains Research Station, Akron, Colo.

The Agricultural Research Service's Central Great Plains Research Station located in Akron, Colo., is an important research facility focused on developing sustainable soil and crop management practices for the Central Great Plains Region and identifying technologies that maximize the use of the region's soil and water resources with minimal negative environmental impact.
