Bennet announces funding for key High Plains regional prioritiesColorado In early March, the Senate passed H.R. 1105, the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009. "It includes significant funding for key projects and priorities that will make a real difference in the lives of Coloradans in the High Plains and other communities across the state." The Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 now awaits President Obama's signature into law. High Plains funding in H.R. 1105 gives $717,000 for the Central Great Plains Research Station, Akron, Colo. The Agricultural Research Service's Central Great Plains Research Station located in Akron, Colo., is an important research facility focused on developing sustainable soil and crop management practices for the Central Great Plains Region and identifying technologies that maximize the use of the region's soil and water resources with minimal negative environmental impact.
