High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal staff capture AMS awardsSeven High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal writers and designers captured 20 different awards this summer at the 2008 Agricultural Media Summit in Tampa, Fla. For the third year in a row, Journal staff made a successful contest showing. The AMS is the largest gathering of crop and livestock publications professionals in the United States and is hosted by the American Agricultural Editors Association, the Livestock Publications Council and the ABM AgriCouncil. While the event itself focuses on networking and professional education, the AAEA and LPC critique contests showcase excellence in ag communications and journalism while providing constructive evaluation of writing, design and marketing pieces. The editorial team received honorable mention from LPC for its in depth reporting on the tornado that hit Greensburg, Kan., in May 2007 with "After the storm." Holly Martin and Jennifer Latzke received second place in the LPC photo series category with "A weekend of storms leaves a path of destruction."
