Salina livestock sales report

The Farmers and Rancher Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Ks., reported receipts of 2,687 head Aug. 28, compared to 4,216 head last week and 3,142 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 550 pounds were not tested, 550 to 750 pounds were steady to firm, and 750 to 950 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Heifers at 300 to 500 pounds were not tested, 500 to 750 pounds were steady to $2 lower, and 750 to 950 pounds were steady to $3 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 89% 600 pounds and over, 10% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 61% steers and 39% heifers.
