Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 3,219 head of sheep and goats Aug. 29, compared to 3,915 head last week and 2,524 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were $8 to $10 lower, heavy weights were steady. Stock and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $8 to $10 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 750 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, few 90 to 110 lbs., 50.00 to 65.00. Barbados bucks, 175.00 to 390.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few 90 to 120 lbs., 95.00 to 100.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 104.00 to 118.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, medium fleshy, 90 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 85 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00; ewes: 60 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 114.00 to 120.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 115.00 to 125.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 104.00 to 115.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 48.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 74.00 to 86.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 90 to 110 lbs., 95.00 to 97.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, fancy nannies 30 to 50 lbs., 125.00 to 150.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 65.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 50.00. Billies, Selection 1, 120 to 180 lbs., 95.00 to 101.00.
