Georgia cattle auction summary

The summary of Georgia livestock auctions for the week ending Aug. 29, totaled 10,782 head, compared to 13,599 head last week and 14,367 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were steady, all weights of feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 lower, and replacement cows were steady to $3 lower. The offering included 9% steers over 600 pounds, 34% steers under 600 pounds, 6% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 7% feeder cows, 16% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
