Dodge City cattle sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 2,627 head Aug. 27, compared to 1,963 head last week and 2,700 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers and heifers 700 to 950 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, mostly $2 lower, steer and heifers 700 pounds and under not enough for market test, although a lower undertone was noted. Slaughter cows were weak to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls not enough for a market test, the bulk of the supply, low dressing with weaker undertone noted. Receipts included 77% 600 pounds and over, 15% 600 pounds and under, 8% slaughter cows and bulls with 206 head, early. The feeder supply included 80% steers and 20% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 450 lbs., 130.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 112.50 to 113.75 (113.22); 750 to 800 lbs., 111.00 to 112.10 (111.42); 800 to 850 lbs., 110.00 to 113.25 (111.41); 850 to 900 lbs., 107.60 to 109.00 (108.35); 900 to 950 lbs., 107.35 to 107.75 (107.60). Fleshy, 14 head, 965 lbs., 103.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 450 lbs., 119.00 to 125.00 (122.80); 31 head, 650 lbs., 114.25; 51 head, 743 lbs., 111.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 107.750109.50 (108.49); 800 to 850 lbs., 108.60 to 109.60 (109.18); 850 to 900 lbs., 106.10 to 106.25 (106.15); 51 head, 945 lbs., 103.00. Medium and large frame 2, 21 head, 504 lbs., 116.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 113.50 (113.12); 30 head, 829 lbs., 106.00. Medium frame 2, 5 head, 529 lbs., 109.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 11 head, 1120 lbs., 92.00. Medium frame 2, 7 head, 366 lbs., 118.50; 10 head, 468 lbs., 115.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 50 head, 490 lbs., 114.00. Fleshy, 11 head, 494 lbs., 109.50; 8 head, 657 lbs., 108.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 402 lbs., 113.50; 6 head, 464 lbs., 113.00; 77 head, 531 lbs., 109.75; 700 to 750 lbs., 105.25 to 105.50 (105.32); 750 to 800 lbs., 104.00 to 105.00 (104.84); 14 head, 804 lbs., 102.25; 27 head, 861 lbs., 100.00; 8 head, 906 lbs., 99.75. Medium and large frame 2, 22 head, 496 lbs., 111.00; 15 head, 584 lbs., 105.50; 8 head, 650 lbs., 107.00; 25 head, 763 lbs., 103.00. Baby calves: Per head, mixed bulls and steers one head, 265 lbs., 330.00; one head, 220 lbs., 280.00; one head, 145 lbs., 175.00. Holsteins, 4 head, 137 lbs., 110.00. Heifers, 2 head, 250 to 275 lbs., 260.00 to 280.00 (270.48); 3 head, 200 to 240 lbs., 180.00 to 260.00 (229.01); 2 head, 175 to 190 lbs., 110.00 to 160.00 (133.97).

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, broken mouth, bred second trimester, 11 head, 1217 lbs., 720.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 59.50 to 61.75; high dressing, 64.00 to 66.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 59.50 to 63.00; high dressing, 64.00 to 65.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 54.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 63.00; low dressing, 44.00 to 53.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 73.50 to 74.50; low dressing, 61.50 to 70.00.
