AgriLife Extension 4-H agent named for Smith County

Sarah Hindman has been named as Texas AgriLife Extension Service 4-H and youth development agent for Smith County.

Hindman, whose appointment will be effective Sept. 20, received her bachelor's and master's degrees in animal science from Tarleton State University.

After receiving her master's degree, Hinman worked as an assistant trainer for Rubin Pringle Cutting Horses in Lott. She has also worked as breeding and ranch manager for Western Cross Arabians and Pintos in Weatherford and as a substitute teacher for the Wortham Independent School District.

Hindman managed and taught Comanche 4-H Horse Summer Camp from 2004-2007. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Tarleton Horseman's Association.

At the university, she was a member and served as secretary for Tarleton's Horseman's Association, assisted in instructing the drill team, was a member of the Stock Team and was co-founder of the Stock Horse Team.

In 2005, Hindman received the Outstanding Graduate, College of Agriculture and Human Sciences award.

Hindman fills the position formerly held by Derrick Bruton.
