West Plains regional sales reportThe Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,266 head, Sept. 23, compared to 2,988 head, last week and 4,003 head, last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 700 pounds were $2 to $6 lower, except 350 to 450 pounds, suitable for wheat and a few toppy 5 weights, were $3 to $6 higher, weights over 700 pounds were steady to mostly $1 lower. Heifers under 650 pounds, front to end, were steady to $3 lower, with most lesser quality $3 to $6 lower, weights over 650 pounds were weak to $2 lower. The supply was moderate. Demand very uneven, moderate to good on front to end quality uniform calves, weaned with respiratory shots, light on those un-weaned, fleshy and fat bull calves, at best moderate on yearlings. The supply was moderate. The supply consisted of 45% steers, 7% bulls and 48% heifers, with around 36% over 600 pounds.
