Watertown cattle sales reportThe South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 500 head Sept. 24, compared to 500 head last week and 1,300 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $1 higher. Feeder heifers were weak to $1 lower. Feeder steers made up 63% of the run, feeder heifers the remaining 37%, with 100% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 622 lbs., 114.00 calves; 722 to 731 lbs., 112.50 to 112.85 (112.61); 70 head, 759 lbs., 112.70; 10 head, 834 lbs., 109.90; 6 head, 889 lbs., 104.25; 10 head, 972 lbs., 103.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 11 head, 683 lbs., 108.00; 754 to 788 lbs., 107.25 to 108.25 (107.74); 14 head, 951 to 958 lbs., 95.50 to 98.75 (97.83); 12 head, 1122 lbs., 96.75; 1161 to 1196 lbs., 83.50 to 89.75 (85.99); 6 head, 1233 lbs., 88.50. Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 7 head, 988 lbs., 66.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 763 to 797 lbs., 100.00 to 104.80 (104.26); 5 head, 846 lbs., 99.50; 17 head, 852 lbs., 101.00; 16 head, 900 to 903 lbs., 96.25 to 96.75 (96.59); 19 head, 1002 to 1018 lbs., 97.00 to 97.50 (97.16).
