Texhoma livestock sales

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 450 head Sept. 24, compared to 160 head last week and 1,200 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, there were no recent sales to test trends on feeders and calves. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was average. The supply included 19% steers, 75% heifers with 70% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were $3 lower. A total of 93 cows with 64% to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 323 to 343 lbs., 130.00 to 136.00 (131.79); 5 head, 391 lbs., 133.00; 2 head, 405 lbs., 125.00; 6 head, 491 lbs., 122.25; 17 head, 621 lbs., 105.50 calves; 6 head, 778 lbs., 100.00 calves.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 530 lbs., 112.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 405 to 437 lbs., 110.00 to 110.50 (110.19); 18 head, 500 to 525 lbs., 98.00 to 105.00 (102.74); 5 head, 573 lbs., 95.00; 15 head, 623 lbs., 97.50 calves; 24 head, 695 lbs., 104.25; 20 head, 708 lbs., 103.50; 65 head, 758 lbs., 102.50. Medium and large frame 2, 2 head, 593 lbs., 93.50; 9 head, 759 lbs., 95.25.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 38 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 53.50 to 56.00; high dressing, 56.75 to 58.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 52.50. Lean, 18 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 50.50 to 53.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 57.75; low dressing, 50.00 to 50.25. Light, 2 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 44.00; low dressing, 40.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 11 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 65.25 to 67.50; low dressing, 61.50 to 63.00.
