Teasa Nauta honored with Junior Angus Bronze, Silver pins

Teasa Nauta, Douglas, Wyo., has earned the National Junior Angus Association's Bronze and Silver Awards.

Teasa is the 19-year-old daughter of Rene' Nauta and graduated from Douglas High School in May 2008. She is active in the Wyoming Junior Angus Association, where she's served as secretary and president. Teasa has represented the state as their queen and the members selected her to be their voice as a voting delegate to the NJAA Annual Meeting at the National Junior Angus Show for two consecutive years. She has participated in the quiz bowl and extemporaneous speaking contests at the NJAS. Teasa has shown her Angus cattle and participated in showmanship at several shows on the local, state and national levels. Teasa has attended the Leaders Engaged in Angus Development Conference. She joined the NJAA in 2004.

The Bronze and Silver Awards are the first two levels of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972. Junior Angus breeders must apply for the awards and then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honors. Applicants are evaluated in the areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.

The NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while also providing leadership and self-development opportunities for nearly 8,000 active members nationwide.
