State youth compete in Farm Bureau livestock judging contest

Oklahoma

More than 480 4-H and FFA members participated in the 18th annual Oklahoma Farm Bureau-sponsored Young Farmers & Ranchers Livestock Judging Contest held Sept. 12 during the State Fair of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.

The contest gave youngsters the opportunity to test their judging skills on cattle, swine, sheep and goats. Winners received prizes of ribbons and plaques, and the first place winners received jackets.

The top three teams and individuals in each division are listed below.

Results in the Senior FFA Division, which was FFA members in the 11th and 12th grades, were:

Team Competition

--First Place Team: Kingfisher FFA Chapter;

--Second Place: Elgin FFA Chapter; and

--Third Place Team: Haworth FFA Chapter.

Individual Competition

--First Place - Dalton Downing, Grove FFA Chapter;

--Second Place: McKenzie Walta, Kingfisher FFA Chapter;

--Third Place: Audrey Gruntmeir, Kingfisher FFA Chapter;

Results in the Junior FFA Division, which was for FFA members in the 8th through 10th grade were:

Team Competition

--First Place Team: Thomas-Fay-Custer FFA Chapter;

--Second Place Team: Quinton FFA Chapter; and

--Third Place Team: Kingfisher FFA Chapter.

Individual Competition

--First Place: Bailey Kliewer, Thomas-Fay-Custer FFA Chapter;

--Second Place: Cameron Deborde, Sapulpa FFA Chapter; and

--Third Place: Preston Ogden, Quinton FFA Chapter.

Results in the Senior 4-H Division, which was for 4-H members age 15 and older, were:

Team Competition

--First Place: Cleveland County 4-H Club;

--Second Place: Kay County 4-H Club; and

--Third Place: Washington County 4-H Club.

Individual Competition

--First Place: Maverick Squires, Cleveland County 4-H Club;

--Second Place: Jessica Miller, Kay County 4-H Club; and

--Third Place: Chris Hall, Cleveland County 4-H Club.

Results in the Junior 4-H Division, which was for 4-H members age 14 and under, were:

Team Competition

--First Place: Marshall County 4-H Club;

--Second Place: Canadian County 4-H Club; and

--Third Place: Weatherford 4-H Club.

Individual Competition

--First Place: Garrett Goodwin, Kay County 4-H Club;

--Second Place: Levi Shelby, Marshall County 4-H Club; and

--Third Place: Shiann Burns, Marshall County 4-H Club.
