St. Onge cattle sales reportThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 528 head Sept. 19, compared to 3,552 head last week and 553 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. This was a light run of feeders on offer. There were not enough for an accurate trend compared to last week's heavy run. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady. Buyer attendance was light with moderate demand. The supply consisted of 48% slaughter cows and bulls, 52% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 57% steers, 43% heifers, with 89% weighing over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 536 lbs., 114.00; 24 head, 691 lbs., 105.25; 802 to 843 lbs., 101.25 to 106.00 (105.39); 7 head, 954 lbs., 98.75. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 476 to 499 lbs., 104.00 to 108.00 (106.09); 7 head, 672 to 686 lbs., 99.00 to 102.00 (100.73); 12 head, 784 to 790 lbs., 100.00 to 101.50 (100.88); 9 head, 872 to 887 lbs., 100.50; 911 to 914 lbs., 101.00 to 101.25 (101.22); 5 head, 1015 lbs., 98.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1525 to 1630 lbs., 58.00 to 62.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1225 to 1512 lbs., 53.00 to 58.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 990 1340 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 50.00.
