South Central direct sheep

The South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending Sept. 19, showed receipts of 400 feeder lambs, 300 slaughter lambs, and 2,500 slaughter meat goats, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to the last test feeder lambs were steady. There were no slaughter ewes, or replacement ewes. Trading and demand were moderate. Buyers and sellers taking a wait and see attitude on a limited supply.

Feeder lambs: Texas, 400 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 70 to 90 lbs., 99.00 to 101.00

Slaughter lambs: Texas, 300 head, Good and Choice 1 to 2, hair lambs 65 to 75 lbs., 97.00 to 100.00.

Slaughter meat goats: Kids, Texas, 2300 head, Selection 1, 50 to 60 lbs., 116.00 last week and 107.00 this week. Selection 1 to 2, 35 to 40 lbs., 90.00. Nannies/does, Texas, 200 head, Selection 1 to 2, 38.00; thin 25.00.
