Salina livestock sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,992 head Sept. 18, compared to 3,170 head last week and 3,073 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 550 to 750 pounds were $5 to $7 lower, and 750 to 950 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Heifers at 500 to 700 pounds were $4 to $6 lower, and 700 to 950 pounds were $4 to $7 lower. Steers at 550 pounds and heifers at 500 pounds and under were not enough for a market test, however a lower undertone was noted. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 87% 600 pounds and over, 12% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 73% steers and 26% heifers.
