Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Sept. 19, reported receipts of 1,893 head of sheep and goats, compared to 3,301 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, no comparison was available due to the reporter's absence last week. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including near 400 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 90 to 120 lbs., 40.00 to 60.00. Dorper bucks, 100.00 to 155.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 60 to 100 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3: 90 to 130 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00. Choice, 90 to 130 lbs., 74.00 to 85.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 95.00 to 115.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 80.00 to 95.00.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, few 190 lbs., 25.00. Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 90 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 40.00. Slaughter bucks, few 100 to 200 lbs., 40.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00; ewes, 70 to 100 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 20 to 40 lbs., 105.00 to 128.00; 40 to 60 lbs., 100.00 to 111.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 97.00 to 110.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 40.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 65.00 to 78.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 100 lbs., 80.00 to 91.00. Selection 2, 115 to 160 lbs., 55.00 to 65.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 69.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 40.00. Billies, Selection 1, 100.00 to 185.00 per head.
