Dunlap feeder cattle auction

The Dunlap Feeder Cattle Auction, Dunlap, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,767 head Sept. 19, compared to 2,918 head two weeks ago, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.

This was a special feeder calf and yearling sale. The trend compared to last special, two weeks ago, was $3 to $8 lower on steers calves under 600 pounds, $6 to $8 lower on steer calves over 600 pounds, $6 to $8 lower on heifer calves under 600 pounds, and $3 to $6 lower on heifer calves over 600 pounds. The receipts included 60% steers and 40% heifers. Feeder cattle weighing over 600 pounds were 29%. The special included many strings of new crop calves. There was good buyer demand for both the calves and the yearlings.
