Dodge City livestock sales reportDodge City Winter Livestock Inc., reported receipts of 3,349 head, Sept. 17, compared to 2,425 head, last week and 3,059 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 350 to 600 pounds and heifers at 300 to 550 pounds, had no sales last week for a comparison, but a higher undertone was noted. Steers at 600 to 750 pounds were weak on a light test, and 750 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $4 lower. Heifers at 600 to 700 pounds were not tested, and 700 to 850 pounds were weak to $3 lower on a light test. Slaughter cows were weak to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls had no comparable sales last week, and a lower undertone was noted. Receipts included 54% over 600 pounds, 37% under 600 pounds and 9% slaughter cows and bulls with 233 head, early. The feeder supply consisted of 57% steers and 43% heifers.
