Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Sept. 13 totaled 4,800 head, compared to 17,700 head last week and 9,300 head last, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 lower in a limited test. Direct trading was moderate. Comparable direct feeder steer and heifer sales were steady to $3 lower. Buyer inquiry and demand were light to moderate for moderate offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent, and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up approximately 46% of the supply, heifers 54%, with 75% of the offerings over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 3395 head of the total receipts.
