Watertown livestock salesThe South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 500 head Sept. 17, compared to 550 head last week and 800 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder heifers were steady while feeder steers were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder steers made up 73% of the sale, feeder heifers made up 27%, with 99% of the offerings over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 632 lbs., 109.50 calves; 12 head, 793 lbs., 106.00 calves; 70 head, 894 lbs., 107.70; 915 to 937 lbs., 104.60 to 104.75 (104.66); 56 head, 959 lbs., 105.30; 54 head, 1028 lbs., 101.90. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 571 lbs., 105.00; 10 head, 833 lbs., 102.30; 8 head, 883 lbs., 103.75; 36 head, 904 lbs., 103.50; 16 head, 973 lbs., 102.10. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 706 lbs., 105.00 calves; 30 head, 790 lbs., 104.00; 6 head, 802 lbs., 104.50; 19 head, 856 to 869 lbs., 101.25 to 102.00 (101.80).
