Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,014 head Sept. 15, compared to 3,015 head last week and 4,093 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle and calves $2 to $4 lower. There was a high incidence of No. 2 cattle and calves, along with moderate to low demand from buyers. Weigh-ups were mostly average to few full. Much of central and northwest Oklahoma received flooding rains over last week. Receipts were comprised of 48% steers, 37% heifers, 14% bulls, with 30% over 600 pounds. Slaughter bulls sold steady, cows mostly steady with higher undertones on higher yielding fleshy cows. A total of 202 cows and bulls sold with 67% going to packers.
