Sioux Falls sheep sales reportThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,336 head Sept. 16, compared to 1,499 head last week and 1,380 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week slaughter lambs sold steady to $2 lower. Slaughter ewes sold mostly steady on a light test. Feeder lambs sold steady to weak on a light test. Receipts included about 54% slaughter lambs, 18% slaughter ewes, 26% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Buyer attendance was moderate with moderate to good demand. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 132 to 149 lbs., 96.00 to 97.25 (96.88); 21 head, 158 lbs., 96.75. Shorn Choice 2 to 3, 6 head, 152 lbs., 90.50. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 131 to 148 lbs., 95.00 to 97.25 (96.09); 152 to 163 lbs., 95.75 to 96.00 (95.78). Wooled, Choice and Prime 3 to 4, 7 head, 167 lbs., 92.00. Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 110 to 125 lbs., 91.25 to 94.00 (93.05); 133 to 140 lbs., 92.00 to 93.00 (92.21). Slaughter ewes: Good and Choice 2 to 3, 6 head, 157 lbs., 44.00; 6 head, 141 lbs., 54.00 gaunt. Good 2 to 3, 20 head, 150 lbs., 25.25; 163 to 168 lbs., 23.75 to 25.00 (24.10).
