Northeast Kansas Farmers' and Rancher's conference Jan. 9Kansas Farming with family, been there, done that. This can be most rewarding, can be most frustrating. Keeping all members on the same page, takes a lot of communication. Then there's planning for the future, keeping the farm in the family. They say when you are 40, you should be planning how to pass this on to your children. All of these topics are going to be discussed at the Northeast Kansas Farmer's and Rancher's conference Jan. 9, 2009. Mark your calendars now. This will be an excellent meeting brought to you by the Farm Service Agencies of Marshall, Nemaha and Washington Counties, area bankers, K-State Research and Extension, local FFA chapters and Farm Bureau chapters. Dr. Don Jonovic, Cleveland, Ohio will be a featured speaker. He writes for some of the Farm Press. He's sort of the Dr. Phil of farm country. He's presentation is entitled " Surviving Family Farming Whitewater." Kansas Farm Bureau's General Counsel, Terry Arthur will discuss estate planning and changing tax laws. Then the FSA and NRCS professionals will update you on the farm bill and the changes that will affect your operation.
