Multi-species grazing tour, seminar plannedSept. 25 and Oct. 1 set for events Nebraska Improved stewardship is the topic of discussion for two educational events hosted by the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition on Sept. 25 and Oct. 1. Landowners and others are invited to learn how grazing other animals along with cattle can better utilize forage and control invasive species. The Multi-Species Grazing Seminar will take place Sept. 25 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the UNL Panhandle Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. Speaker topics will include: using goats for targeted plants; different species get different results; and working sheep and cattle grazing. Registration is due Sept. 18, and dinner is included. The Multi-Species Grazing Tour is scheduled for Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Box Butte Reservoir between Chadron and Alliance, Neb. The outdoor tour will include a demonstration of goats grazing invasive weeds onsite, and workshops on integrated weed grazing and grazing goats behind cattle. Registration for the tour is due Sept. 26, and lunch is included. Transportation to Box Butte will possibly be available from Chadron, Alliance and Scottsbluff.
