Joplin livestock sales reportThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,525 head Sept. 15, compared to 7,000 head last week and 6,344 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, all classes of steers sold $3 to $7 lower. Heifer calves and yearlings traded $1 to $4 lower with a few consignments of Northern quality yearling heifers selling steady. Market uncertainty came from several different fronts pressured feeder cattle demand. The supply included 46% steers, 49% heifers, and 5% feeder bulls, with around 56% of the cattle over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 121.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.50 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 114.50, unweaned 103.50 to 104.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.50 to 108.25, unweaned/fleshy 100.00 to 102.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00.
