Georgia livestock sales summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Sept. 12, totaled 13,684 head, compared to 10,754 head last week and 15,526 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were $1 higher, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $2 lower, steer calves were steady to $2 lower, heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower, replacement cows were steady to $2 lower. The offering was composed of 10% steers over 600 pounds, 34% steers under 600 pounds, 6% heifers over 600 pounds, 25% heifers under 600 pounds, 8% feeder cows, 15% slaughter cows, and 2% bulls.
