Faith cattle sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 510 head Sept. 15, compared to 2,521 head last week and 441 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

This was a light run of feeders on offer and not enough for an accurate trend compared to last week's heavy run, but a steady undertone was noted. Slaughter cows sold steady. There was moderate buyer attendance with moderate demand. The supply consisted of approximately 10% slaughter cows and bulls, 90% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 35% steers, 65% heifers, with 99% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 553 lbs., 105.50; 20 head, 712 to 749 lbs., 101.75 to 108.00 (106.38); 24 head, 776 lbs., 104.75; 50 head, 836 lbs., 107.00; 956 to 988 lbs., 100.25 to 101.25 (100.96).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 711 lbs., 101.75; 754 to 789 lbs., 102.00 to 103.10 (102.75); 836 to 846 lbs., 103.00; 858 to 895 lbs., 102.10 to 102.75 (102.25); 5 head, 1057 lbs., 96.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1550 to 1685 lbs., 57.00 to 62.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1340 to 1455 lbs., 56.50 to 61.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 985 to 1263 lbs., 56.00 to 61.00; low dressing, 46.00 to 52.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1170 to 1980 lbs., 65.00 to 68.00.
