Extension makes cattle feedstuff and pasture exchange service available on webNebraska The drought may have eased slightly in western Nebraska, but its effects on cattle producers are still being felt: hay is expensive and sometimes in short supply, and as winter approaches, hay supplies are expected to get tighter. But a year-old website is available to match up cattle producers in western Nebraska who need to find feedstuffs or pasture for their herds with those who have pasture or feedstuff available. The Feedstuff Exchange website is available at the UNL Panhandle Research and Extension Center's website at www.panhandle.unl.edu. Click on the "Feedstuff Exchange" link on the home page. The on-line service was begun in 2007 to help producers in western Nebraska cope with the effects of drought, according to Tom Holman, Extension Educator for Scotts Bluff and Morrill counties. Anybody who needs to find feedstuffs, or who has items to list, should contact the Scotts Bluff - Morrill County Extension Office at 308-632-1480 or the Panhandle Research and Extension Center's main phone line at 308-632-1230. Holman stressed that this service is intended for livestock producers throughout western Nebraska. The listing is a service to buyers and sellers of pasture, stalks and feeds. There are no guarantees of quality or quantity implied in the listings from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
