Dalhart livestock sales

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,304 head Sept. 11, compared to 1,002 head last week and 1,790 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were mostly steady, and over 600 pounds were not well tested. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 lower. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250- to 650-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 30% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 3%, and feeders 66%. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers, with nearly 11% over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 146.00 to 150.00; package 360 lbs., 137.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 123.00, package 417 lbs., pre to conditioned 136.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lb. calves 105.75 to 111.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 110.50; 600 to 700 lb. calves 105.50 to 107.00, package 635 lbs., 108.00; two packages 738 to 780 lbs., 106.50. Medium and large frame 2, two lots 228 to 256 lbs., 117.00 to 131.00; package 321 lbs., 120.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00, load 485 lbs., 110.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 134.00 to 135.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 116.00 to 120.00, package 303 lbs., 130.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 101.00 to 107.50, package 420 lbs., pre-conditioned 114.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 101.00, package 530 lb. yearlings 107.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 467 lbs., 98.00; package 598 lbs., 95.00. Medium and large frame 2, two lots 238 to 298 lbs., 100.80 to 110.00; load 451 lbs., 97.00; package 568 lbs., 95.00; package 765 lbs., 95.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 58.50 to 61.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 57.50 to 61.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 57.00 to 59.50; low dressing, 54.50 to 56.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 58.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 50.50 to 55.50.

Dairy cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 61.50 to 63.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1100 to 1600 lbs., 57.50 to 61.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 55.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 2100 lbs., 73.50 to 78.00
