Construction set to begin on corn seed plantINDEPENDENCE, Iowa (AP)--Construction began in early September on a $90 million corn seed production facility in northeast Iowa. A groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Dekalb plant site in Independence. Monsanto Co. officials say the plant will be capable of packing 1,200 bags of corn seed per hour when it is completed.
