UNL educators offer training on carbon credit contracts

Nebraska

Practicing and documenting good grazing practices may make you extra money.

The UNL Extension Beef and Range Education Team for the Northern Panhandle (Scott Cotton, Jenny Nixon, and Cindy Tusler) have conducted a series of Carbon Credit Seminars across Sioux, Dawes, and Sheridan Counties in July and August, but find there are many more people who want the information. So several more informational sessions have been scheduled.

--Sept. 9, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Scott Cotton will provide a program overview at White River Feed in Chadron. Space is limited.

--Sept. 18, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Dawes County Fairgrounds 4-H Building (Chadron) Scott Cotton will provide a program overview followed by presentations from Agragate and Nebraska Farmers Union (groups who make contracts).

--Oct. 2, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Heritage Seed, Crawford. Scott Cotton will provide a program overview on Carbon Credit Contracts. Space is limited.

Please RSVP the Dawes Extension office so enough materials are available. Certain documents and records are needed to enter into a Carbon Sequestration Contract. UNL Extension Educators are willing to work by appointment to help landowners develop confidential materials which can help them enter into contract negotiations with aggregators if they wish to do so.

For more information contact one of the following: Scott Cotton, UNL Extension-Dawes at 308-432-3373; Jenny Nixon, UNL Extension-Sioux at 308-668-2428 or Cindy Tusler, UNL Extension-Sheridan at 308-327-2312.
