Wyobraska cattle sales report

The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Sept. 6, totaled 17,700 head, compared to 9,200 head last week and 21,825 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo.

Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers over 700 pounds sold steady to $2 lower, and lighter weights had no price comparison. Direct trading was moderate. Comparable direct feeder steer and heifer sales were steady. Buyer inquiry and demand were light to moderate for moderate offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent, and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up approximately 59% of the supply, heifers 41%, with 91% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 7875 head of the total receipts.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 325 lbs., 120.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 104.50 to 112.75; 835 to 850 lbs., 105.00 to 105.75; 960 to 990 lbs., 94.00 to 103.75. Large frame 1, 1100 to 1295 lbs., 87.25 to 92.25; 1600 lbs., 70.00. Medium frame 3, 740 to 810 lbs., 58.00 to 60.00. Large frame 3, Holsteins 680 lbs., 67.00; 840 lbs., 74.75. Feeder bulls, Medium and large frame 1, 320 lbs., 142.00; 360 to 390 lbs., 128.50 to 132.50; 410 lbs., 131.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 875 lbs., 108.00 to 108.25; 905 to 990 lbs., 107.60 to 111.00; 925 to 935 lbs., 107.00 October. Medium and large frame 1, delivered price, 620 to 650 lbs., 111.50 to 114.00.
