Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,405 head Sept. 8, compared to 2,760 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 7% of the offering, replacement cows 1%, and feeders 92%. The feeder supply included 56% steers, 40% heifers and 4% bulls, with nearly 69% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 240 lbs., 150.00 to 152.50; 300 to 330 lbs., 139.00 to 143.00; 400 to 425 lbs., 130.00 to 139.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 127.00; 500 to 525 lbs., 116.00 to 117.00, package 574 lbs., fleshy 100.00; 600 to 670 lbs., 107.75 to 111.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 109.00 to 114.50; two loads 917 lbs., 104.85. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 380 lbs., 130.00; package 433 lbs., 115.00; 530 to 570 lbs., 108.50 to 110.00; lot 655-lb. calves 103.50; 700 to 770 lbs., 107.50 to 108.00; 800 to 875 lbs., 106.25 to 107.25.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, package 329 lbs., 104.00; 525 to 570 lbs., 104.00 to 107.50; 730 to 740 lbs., 95.00 to 98.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 289 lbs., 114.50; 400 to 475 lbs., 107.50 to 112.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.50 to 108.75, 575 to 600 lbs., fleshy 96.00 to 100.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.25 to 108.50, lot 643-lb. calves 100.50; 740 to 775 lbs., 103.75 to 106.85, lot 773 lbs., full 101.25. Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 59.50 to 60.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 55.00 to 60.25; low dressing, 62.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 50.00 to 51.50; low dressing, 54.00 to 60.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 50.50 to 52.50; high dressing, 54.50 to 57.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 50.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 40.00 to 43.00; high dressing, 57.00 to 60.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1700 to 2000 lbs., 72.75 to 74.00; high dressing, 1000 to 1800 lbs., 74.25 to 76.00; low dressing, 900 to 1750 lbs., 63.00 to 70.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1150 to 1550 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 620.00 to 800.00 per head; aged, 900 to 1200 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 460.00 to 535.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 825.00 to 900.00 per pair.
