Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 404 head Sept. 2, compared to 933 head last week and 599 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter ewes were too few to test. Feeder lambs were too few in any weight group for an accurate comparison however, a higher undertone was noted. Receipts included about 57% slaughter lambs, 1% slaughter ewes, 30% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Buyer attendance was moderate with moderate demand. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 12 head, 140 lbs., 97.50. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 122 to 123 lbs., 95.25 to 95.50 (95.41); 132 to 142 lbs., 97.25 to 98.00 (97.55). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 5 head, 154 lbs., 27.50; 11 head, 165 to 195 lbs., 28.00 to 31.00 (29.59). Good 2 to 4, fleshy, 5 head, 195 to 198 lbs., 21.00 to 26.00 (24.02). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 35 lbs., 100.00; 10 head, 52 lbs., 116.00; 10 head, 63 to 64 lbs., 114.50; 73 to 79 lbs., 109.00 to 112.00 (111.20); 28 head, 98 lbs., 97.75; 12 head, 100 lbs., 94.75.
