Salina livestock sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,790 head Sept. 4, compared to 2,687 head last week and 3,521 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 550 pounds and heifers at 300 to 500 pounds were not tested. Steers weighing 550 to 950 pounds were weak to $2 lower, and few instances were steady. Heifers weighing 500 to 750 pounds were weak to $1 lower, and 750 to 950 pounds were steady to firm. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 95% 600 pounds and over, 4% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 80% steers and 20% heifers.
