National Hay Association Convention in Chicago Sept. 17 to 20The 113th Annual Convention will be held on the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook, Sept. 17 to 20. The host hotel is the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort. The Convention kicks off Sept. 17 with the NHA Golf Outing. The tee time for the shotgun start is 7 a.m., at the 18 hole Championship Willowcrest Golf Course. Another option for the day is a motor coach tour to Fair Oaks Dairy Farm at Fair Oaks, Ind. Fair Oaks is a 12,000 head dairy farm in Northwest Indiana, which offers a visitors center, and tours of their facilities which include commodities storage, waste handling, and their own award winning cheese factory. On Sept. 17, tours include a stop at the World Famous Lipizzan Stallion's Tempel Farms, near Wadsorth. While there, visitors can see some of the training that these amazing animals endure to do the truly incredible feats. After Tempel Farms, the tour continues up to Racine, WI for a tour of the Tractor works of Case New Holland. Upon returning to the Hotel, a "Welcome to Illinois" reception is planned with Hall Of Fame Broadcaster Orion Samuelson as the featured speaker. Sept. 18 in the morning, buses load again headed for downtown Chicago, with the first stop at the Chicago Board of Trade. An alternative stop is shopping on the "Magnificent Mile"! Both tours will meet up for a luncheon cruise on Lake Michigan aboard the Cruise Ship Odyssey. Late Sept. 19 is open to meet and greet friends, new and old. An exhibitors area will be open Sept. 18 to 20 with member and commercial displays. Sept. 19 starts off with a general meeting session with a presentation on "Hay Management Effects on Feeding", and followed by a Round table Discussion on Round-Up Ready Alfalfa with the principals of the legal battle present to defend there position.
