Joplin livestock sales reportThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 7,000 head Sept. 8, compared to 4,900 head last sale and 6,790 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to two weeks ago, steers were steady, instances of 600 to 800 pounds were steady $1 higher. Heifers under 650 pounds were steady to $2 higher, heifers over 650 pounds were steady, however several lower quality calves were $1 to $2 lower. Demand was moderate for calves, moderate to good for yearlings. The supply is moderate. The feeder supply included 54% steers, 38% heifers, 7% bulls, with 56% over 600 pounds.
