Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Sept. 5, reported receipts of 2,856 head of sheep and goats, compared to 3,219 head last week and 2,187 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were steady to firm, heavy weights were steady. Stock and feeder goats were steady on a light test. Slaughter goats were steady to firm. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 500 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, few 90 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00. Dorper bucks, 190.00 to 220.00 per head. Barbados ewes, few 80 lbs., 49.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 510.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, few 90 to 120 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 104.00 to 118.00, few 123.00 to 126.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 90 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Slaughter bucks, 150 to 225 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 80 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00; ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 115.00 to 124.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 113.00 to 124.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 95.00 to 110.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 50.00, few light weights 55.00 to 58.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 75.00 to 86.00, few light weights 99.00 to 104.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 130 lbs., 96.00 to 115.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, fancy nannies 40 to 75 lbs., 121.00 to 172.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 50.00. Billies, Selection 1, 80 to 100 lbs., 115.00 to 124.00.

Stock and feeder goats: few 30 to 45 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00.
