Amarillo livestock salesThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas reported receipts of 409 head Sept. 2, compared to 734 head last week and 1,056 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not enough for an adequate market price trend comparison. Slaughter cows and bulls were too few for a price trend comparison. The bulk of the supply Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 1% of the offering, slaughter bulls 0%, replacement cows 3% and feeders 96%. The feeder supply included 31% steers and 69% heifers, with nearly 40% of the run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 333 lbs., 125.00; lot 558 lbs., 119.00; load 711 lbs., 112.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 666 lbs., 106.00; load 897 lbs., 98.00. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 117.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00; 600 to 630 lbs., 102.00 to 104.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 270 lbs., 113.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 103.00 to 105.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 106.00 to 115.00; package 520 lbs., 100.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 288 lbs., 102.00; package 448 lbs., 92.00; package 752 lbs., 91.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1350 lbs., 48.00. Lean, 85 to 90% 800 to 1000 lbs., 49.00. Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 880 to 1450 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 800.00 to 880.00 per head; aged, 1195 lbs., 7 months bred, 750.00 per head.
