2008 Jr. Livestock Sale benefits Colorado youthColorado Each year the preeminent event for Colorado's 4-H and FFA youth takes place at the Colorado State Fair. The Jr. Livestock Sale is one of the largest events of its kind in Colorado. The 2008 Colorado State Fair Jr. Livestock Sale presented by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives drew in $392,800 for Colorado's 4-H and FFA youth. "The Colorado State Fair would like to thank the generous buying groups who support Colorado's youth in agriculture; without them this event would not be possible," stated General Manager Chris Wiseman. "The young people who participate in this event need to be recognized for their hard work and dedication, and the Jr. Livestock Sale provides that recognition." "I am so proud of all of these kids who worked so hard, and I would like to thank our generous buyer groups and sponsors," stated Jeanne Robison, Colorado State Fair Livestock Coordinator. This is the first year that the Junior Livestock Sale has included market Chicken and Rabbit Pen of Three Classes. The following prices are tentative as of the auction floor. Tyler Camblin of Holyoke took Grand Champion Market Beef. Sam Brown and Family purchased the Grand Champion for a total of $50,000. Reserve Grand Champion shown by Ann Vaughn of Henderson went for $11,000 to Pigskin Buckaroos. Grand Champion Market Hog shown by Logan Simpson of Ault was purchased by Pigskin Buckaroos for $17,500. Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog was shown by Tyler Trostel of Kiowa and purchased by Pigskin Buckaroos for $11,000. Darren McLaughlin of Moffat took Grand Champion Market Lamb purchased by Denver Rustlers for $13,500. Sam Brown purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb for $4,000 shown by Bailey Wise of Weld. Grand Champion Market Goat shown by Ryan Throckmorton of LaSalle was purchased by Denver Rustlers for $2,500. Ryne Schroeder of Campo presented the Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat purchased by TIC for $1,500. Wyatt Heidenreich of Gill took Grand Champion Market Chicken Pen of Three purchased by Friends of the Fair for $3,500. The Fair Ladies purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Chicken Pen for $2,000 shown by Julie Collins of Franktown. Grand Champion Market Rabbit Pen of Three shown by Hannah Vickland of Longmont was purchased by the Colorado County Commissioners for $750. Hannah Vickland of Longmont also took Reserve Grand Champion Rabbit Pen purchased by the Fair Ladies for $1,000.
