Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,188 head Aug. 25, compared to 3,136 head last week and 2,725 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were steady, heifer calves were $2 higher. Feeder steers and heifers were steady except 600 to 700 pounds steers sold $1 higher. Demand was very good on calves, good for feeders. Weigh-ups were mostly average to a few full and fleshy. Receipts included 43% steers, 45% heifers, 13% bulls, with 30% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady with good demand on high yielding butcher cows. A total of 483 cows and bulls sold with 51% going to packers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1100 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, average, 1000.00 to 1175.00.
