Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,643 head August 25, compared to 1,190 head last week, and 2,410 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 higher, calves were $2 to $5 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4% of the offering, replacement cows 5%, and feeders 91%. The feeder supply included 54% steers, 45% heifers and 1% bulls, with nearly 50% of the run over 600 pounds.
