Superior video auction reportThe Superior Video Auction reported offerings of 189,000 head Aug. 22, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to the last sale, feeder steers and heifers were uneven and generally steady to $2 higher with greater increases on lighter calves for fall delivery as wheat pasture prospects improve. The supply includes 40% feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds, 65% of supply steers and 35% heifers. Prices FOB based on net weights after a 2 to 3% pencil shrink or equivalent, with a 3 to 6 cent slide on yearlings and 4 to 10 on calves. Current sales are up to 14 days, with summer deliveries August to September and fall deliveries October to December. Deliveries current through March 2009.
