Springfield livestock sales report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,021 head Aug. 20, compared to 1,850 head last week and 2,163 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 700 pounds were steady to $2 lower, and over 700 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Holsteins under 750 pounds were not well tested, and over 750 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Heifers were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. A wean-vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. The supply included 42% steers, 06% Holsteins, 41% heifers, 11% bulls, with 59% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 425 lbs., 121.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 119.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 111.00 to 116.50; 725 to 750 lbs., 109.50 to 113.50; 825 to 900 lbs., 100.00 to 107.00; package 922 lbs., 98.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2 package 387 lbs., 114.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 118.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 114.00, thin 113.00 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00, thin 112.00 to 116.00; 725 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00; 825 to 900 lbs., 98.50 to 100.00. Large 1 325 to 375 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; package 475 lbs., 116.00; lot 594 lbs., 105.0; 650 to 675 lbs., 108.00 to 110.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 106.25.

Holsteins: Large frame 3. package 393 lbs., 87.00; package 460 lbs., 81.00; package 532 lbs., 79.00; lot 690 lbs., 77.50; lot 759 lbs., 78.75; couple lots 855 lbs., 79.75 to 80.00; couple lots 936 lbs., 74.50 to 74.75.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 359 lbs., 108.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 103.50 to 109.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.00 to 108.00; package 740 lbs., 99.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 245 lbs., 117.00; 325 to 400 lbs., 100.00 to 112.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 107.00, package thin 108.00, package fleshy 95.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 95.00 to 104.25; 700 to 800 lbs., 92.00 to 99.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 93.50 to 95.00. Large frame 1, 425 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 107.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 101.00; 650 to 675 lbs., few 102.00; 775 to 800 lbs., 95.50 to 100.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, package 466 lbs., 120.00; 525 to 550 lbs., 109.00 to 111.00; package 618 lbs., 104.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 386 lbs., 117.00; 425 to 500 lbs., 107.50 to 112.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.00 to 106.50. Large frame 1, package 342 lbs., 118.00; package 449 lbs., 120.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 101.50 to 107.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.50 to 104.00, calves 94.00 to 101.00; package 803 lbs., 95.50.
